When Should You Service Your Boiler?

Most of us know that you should get your boiler serviced regularly, however, how often and when you should get your boiler serviced is trickier to know. There are a number of gas boiler suppliers in Northern Ireland but it’s important to make sure your boiler service is carried out by an engineer that is gas safe registered, such as ourselves at EB Gas. Here are a few servicing tips you should be aware of so you can get the best from your boiler.

Service your boiler annually.

As a rule, you should service your gas boiler annually to keep it in good condition.

Maintaining your boiler is vital, especially if you want to keep your boiler under warranty. Most warranties require that you have your boiler serviced yearly. It may be the case that if your boiler breaks down and you haven’t serviced it within the past 12 months, your warranty will not come into effect and you won’t be eligible to claim the cost of repairs.

Getting your boiler checked annually will also give you a chance of catching serious problems in the early stages. This will save you the bother of your boiler breaking down and the cost of a replacement.

Your annual boiler check should be carried out by a professional Gas Safe registered engineer, who will make sure your boiler is in it’s best working order.

Service your boiler in the summer.

Summer tends to be the best time of year to get your boiler serviced. Getting your boiler serviced in summer allows you to make sure it is in good working order for the colder months of winter. It will prevent any unwanted breakdowns over the winter months in which your boiler is in high use and is vital for your family.

When winter begins, you will be much less likely to get an appointment with an engineer due to a higher volume of boiler breakdowns. If your boiler breaks down in the winter months, this means you will have to wait longer before your boiler is up and in working order again.

Service your boiler when it seems inefficient.

An inefficient boiler may drive up the cost of your energy bills. However, before you spend lots of money on a brand new boiler, you may want so consider booking a boiler check. In the long run this could save you money on your energy bills and help you get the most out of your boiler.

On the other hand, it is important not to wait until you have a problem with your boiler. Do not be fooled by a boiler that appears to be working well. Even if your boiler seems to be in good condition, make sure to keep to a yearly schedule of getting your gas boiler serviced.

Service your boiler when moving into a new home.

Getting your boiler checked when moving into a new house is something you should strongly consider. When moving into a new home you should make a point of beginning a new boiler servicing schedule as you may not know when the previous owner last booked a boiler check.
